Key takeaways

  • Bugatti delivered the last of 10 Centodieci in December 2022, a figure confirmed by the maker itself.
  • Pagani lists a run of five Huayra Codalunga, and Koenigsegg says it built six customer One:1 plus one development car.
  • The Lamborghini Veneno count is 12 or 13 depending on whether the factory coupé is included, so it is not a clean figure.
  • The Agera RS is 25 by Koenigsegg's count and 27 by the Egg Registry's, and the Regera is 80 or 85.
  • Runs such as the 799 Ferrari F80 and the 125 Koenigsegg Jesko are planned limits, not completed production.

The rarest modern hypercars were built in single or low double digits: one Bugatti La Voiture Noire, five Pagani Huayra Codalunga, seven Koenigsegg One:1, ten Bugatti Centodieci and twelve or thirteen Lamborghini Veneno. Larger runs reach 399 Ferrari Enzo and 918 Porsche 918 Spyder. Some famous numbers are disputed, and several current runs are planned limits, not finished counts.

How many of each modern hypercar were built?

The table runs from rarest to most common among road-focused cars, with track-only cars labelled. Status tells you how solid the figure is.

Which modern hypercar is the rarest?

La Voiture Noire is the rarest, as a one-off Chiron-based special shown at Geneva in 2019. Among series rather than single cars, the Pagani Huayra Codalunga leads with five, a figure on Pagani's own site.

The Koenigsegg One:1 follows. Koenigsegg says six customer cars and one factory development car, Wikipedia describes six plus the Geneva show car, and the Egg Registry says six plus a prototype later sold. All three arrive at seven.

The Centodieci is a rare case of a maker's clear statement: Bugatti's December 2022 release speaks of the last of 10 hand-built cars. It belongs to the same W16 family described in the Veyron and Chiron story.

Why do production figures disagree?

Because makers count prototypes, development cars and late extras differently, and independent registries count what actually exists. Three examples show the pattern.

  • Lamborghini Veneno: Wikipedia's infobox says 3 coupés and 9 roadsters, while its text says four coupés, including one kept by the factory. LamboCars explains the difference as the car numbered 0 that Lamborghini retained.
  • Koenigsegg Agera RS: Koenigsegg's history page says 25, while Wikipedia and the Egg Registry say 27, with two extras beyond the plan.
  • Koenigsegg Regera: Koenigsegg says 80, and the Egg Registry says 85.

We also left one famous car out of the table. The Pagani Huayra BC was planned at 20, but sources give 29 and 30 for the final count, and we could not find a Pagani figure to settle it. For the LaFerrari Aperta, Wikipedia's account adds up to 209 or 210, so we left that out too.

What is the difference between built and planned?

A planned figure is a promise and may change. The Ferrari F80 (799), Koenigsegg Jesko (125), McLaren W1 (399), Bugatti Tourbillon (250) and Bugatti Bolide (40) are announced limits for runs that we could not confirm as finished.

Even a sold-out limit can move. The Valkyrie AMR Pro grew from a planned 25 to 40, and the Chiron's run of 500 was topped by the one-off Profilée, built after the cap had been reached.

Does a small production number mean it is the fastest or most valuable?

No. Production tells you how rare a car is and nothing else. The Veyron's 450 cars are numerous by this table's standards, yet the original was listed at about 407 km/h.

Rarity also depends on how you define the car. The McLaren F1's total of 106 includes 5 prototypes, 64 road cars, 5 LMs, 3 GTs and 28 GTRs, plus one prototype for the LM. For the road car alone, the true figure is 64. Read how the McLaren F1 came about, or see what makes a hypercar a hypercar. You can test yourself in the Bugatti, Pagani, Koenigsegg and Ferrari quizzes.
